What we collect, what we never see, and the few third-party requests the site makes.
This privacy policy explains what information bandgapbytaucplot.com ("the site", "we") collects when you use the Tauc Plot Calculator, and how that information is handled.
The short version: the analysis runs entirely in your browser, your data files are never transmitted to us, and we do not operate user accounts, advertising or analytics.
Spectroscopy files you open (TXT, DAT, CSV) are read locally by JavaScript running on your device. The file contents are not uploaded, copied to a server, cached remotely or shared with any third party.
Because files are processed in memory only, closing or refreshing the page discards them. We never see the samples you analyse, the values you compute or the fit windows you choose.
We do not collect personal identifiers. There is no registration, no login and no profile.
We do not set first-party cookies, do not use tracking pixels, and do not run analytics or session-recording scripts on the site.
If you contact us by email, we receive whatever you choose to include in that message — typically your name, email address and the content of your enquiry. We use it only to reply.
The site loads its typefaces (Geist, Inter, Geist Mono, JetBrains Mono) from Google Fonts. When your browser requests these files, Google receives technical data such as your IP address and user agent, subject to Google’s own privacy policy.
No other third-party scripts, embeds, advertising networks or trackers are loaded by the site.
If the site is hosted on a hosting provider, that provider may process standard server logs (IP address, requested path, timestamp) for delivery and security purposes as described in its privacy policy.
We hold no datasets to delete: nothing you analyse is stored by us in the first place.
Email correspondence is retained only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and reasonable follow-up, after which it is deleted.
Because analysis is local, the strongest privacy measure is architectural: sensitive data never crosses the network.
Where the site is served over HTTPS, all traffic between your browser and the server is encrypted in transit.
The site is a scientific tool intended for general and educational use. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the site or in applicable practice. The revision date at the top of this page indicates the latest version. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
Questions about this policy, or requests regarding correspondence you have sent us, can be directed to hello@bandgapbytaucplot.com.
