The Tauc Plot Calculator is a browser-based tool for determining optical band gaps from UV–Vis spectroscopy data using Tauc / Davis–Mott analysis. It provides file parsing, unit conversion, linear regression, plotting and export functionality.
The service is provided free of charge and without registration. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the service at any notice.
You may use the service for lawful research, educational, teaching and quality-assurance purposes. You agree not to:
You retain all rights to the files you open and to the results you generate. The service processes files locally in your browser; we do not receive, store or claim any licence over your spectra or derived values.
You are responsible for validating any band gap value before reporting, publishing or acting upon it.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will be accurate, complete or fit for any particular scientific purpose. File parsing, fit proposals and reported statistics are provided as aids to — not substitutes for — expert analysis.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, goodwill or research outcomes arising out of or in connection with your use of the service.
Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the service is to stop using it.
The site’s design, text, documentation and original code are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. The underlying scientific method — the Tauc relation and its variants — is published in the primary literature and is freely available; see the references on the methodology page.
Plot and data exports generated by the service belong to you. Cite the primary references rather than this site when publishing results.
The site may link to external documentation or references. Those pages are operated by third parties and are subject to their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for their content.
We may restrict or terminate access to the service for conduct that violates these terms, or where required for maintenance, security or legal reasons. Sections concerning warranties, liability and governing law survive termination.
These terms are governed by the laws applicable at our principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
